Analysis Wizard
The Analysis Wizard offers you a wide range of ready-made analyses to choose from and creates a complete evaluation of the data sets selected by you. The final analysis does not only contain the desired calculation results, but as an option also contains specially adapted diagrams and tables that present these results. If required, the Wizard can even create a finished document for your analysis.
Before you call up the Wizard with Insert[Analyses] > Analysis Wizard, you should select the data to be displayed in the object list. You can select complete data sets in the Object List or in the name row of the open folder's data view. Alternatively, you can select cell ranges in the Data View, in an Excel workbook or in a data set window. Another option is to use the section between the active cursors in a diagram as the data selection.
As your first step, select one of the various analyses offered to you by the Wizard. To do this, first open the desired category in the upper list and then the analysis in the list below. If the data provided by you can be used for the analysis selected, the Wizard immediately presents the results in the preview on the right-hand side. The field below provides a short description of the analysis. If the calculation cannot be performed, the reason for the error is described in the preview. The error can often be corrected by re-arranging the data in the list at the bottom left.
Using the names and contents of the selected data sets as a guide, the Wizard tries to assign them correctly for the selected analysis. You should definitely check this assignment of the data, even if the analysis has been calculated without errors. You can correct the way the data have been assigned in the list at the bottom left. After every correction, you can re-calculate the analysis by clicking on the Update button.
Using the Design drop down list, you can change the appearance of the diagrams created by the wizard. Use the Colors field to select the color palette that you want to use to color the curves. You can use the first grayed out palette to customize in the style sheet. The background determines the diagram background color. If you select the Use data set colors option, the colors specified on the Formatting tab of the data sets have priority over the colors of the color scheme.
If the result fulfills your requirements, you can now close the Wizard. All further steps are optional.
Some analyses allow the calculation of the preview with decimated data in order to shorten the length of the calculation. In this case, the option Preview with decimated data on the bottom right is activated. You should note, however, that in certain circumstances the results displayed might deviate considerably from the correct values. The final analysis will always be calculated using all of the data.
As your second step, parameterize the algorithm of the selected analysis. After every change, the preview is updated automatically. For detailed help on the selected algorithm, click on the ? symbol in the upper right corner of the window on page 2.
If you process large data sets, you should enable the option Update manually. Click on the Update symbol to determine for yourself when the preview is to be updated. Otherwise, the preview will be automatically updated every time a setting is changed.
As your third and last step, in addition to calculating the results, you can request the creation of diagrams and tables that display the results. Additional options for some analyses allow you to request optional evaluations in table form and a document that contains the complete evaluation. You can also change the appearance of the diagrams and tables created by clicking on them and selecting the desired type from the two selection fields on the left.
The Wizard saves all the settings you have made for a particular analysis in your user profile. You should therefore usually be able to complete further identical analyses on the first page of the Wizard.
